The sermon invites us to stop seeing the Bible as a collection of disconnected stories and instead recognize the larger narrative unfolding through it—one of God steadily moving closer to humanity. Beginning with Abraham, where God seemed distant and transcendent, the story progresses through the covenant, the tabernacle, and the temple, each step bringing God’s presence nearer and more accessible. That movement ultimately culminates in Jesus, who fully reveals God’s character as loving, personal, and relational. But the story doesn’t end there—through the Holy Spirit, God’s presence now dwells within people, not just among them. The key idea is that God hasn’t changed; rather, our understanding of Him has deepened as He has revealed Himself more clearly over time. Now, the invitation is not just to believe that God is near, but to live in a way that reflects His presence actively working through us.
