Am I Ready To Get  Baptized?

The Very First Step

Before we can even consider baptism, we must understand who Jesus is and what He did for us.

  • God loves you.

  • Sin separates people from God.

  • Jesus died and rose again to make a way back to Him.

  • Anyone can come to Him through faith.

The Bible says:

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9

Before you can even consider baptism, you must ask yourself ...

  • Have I accepted Jesus as my Savior?

  • Do I believe God raised Jesus from the dead to save me from my sins?

If you haven't accepted Jesus as your Savior yet, that's ok! This is an important decision, and we want to make sure you're ready.

Here’s how you can say “YES” to Jesus:
  1. Be honest with God - You don’t have to clean yourself up first. Come as you are.

  2. Believe in Jesus - Believe that He is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and rose again.

  3. Ask Him into your life - Talk to Him directly. You can pray in your own words, or something like this:

Jesus, I need You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Please forgive my sins and make me new. I give You my life and choose to follow You.
Teach me to know You and walk with You. Amen.”

  4. Start walking with Him - A relationship with Jesus grows over time. Some next steps:

  • Read the Bible (the book of John is a great place to start)

  • Pray honestly, even if it feels awkward

  • Attend Church Service: We would love to see you at 9 AM & 11 AM

  • Let us know you said yes! Text “follow” to (719) 787-7630.

After you've made this decision, you can take the next step of baptism!

Next Step: Baptism!

Baptism doesn’t save you — Jesus saves you. Baptism is the outward expression of an inward decision.

One of the first things Jesus asks His followers to do is to be baptized.

"So you must go and make disciples of all nations.

Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you can be sure that I am always with you, to the very end." (Matthew 28:19-20, NIRV)

"When anyone lives in Christ, the new creation has come. The old is gone! The new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIRV)

"By being baptized, we were buried with Christ into his death. Christ has been raised from the dead by the Father's glory. And like Christ we also can live a new life." (Romans 6:4, NIRV)

The word "baptism" means "plunge under, dip completely under, or immerse in water."

Baptism is a picture of Christ's death, burial and resurrection:

  • Standing in the water is a picture of Jesus dying on the cross.

  • Going under the water is a picture of Jesus being buried in the tomb.
Coming up out of the water is a picture of Jesus being raised from the dead.

Can you say “yes” to the questions below?

  1. Do you believe baptism is for all kids or adults who have accepted Jesus as their Savior?

  2. Do you understand baptism is when you get dipped under water to show everyone that you follow Jesus?

  3. Do you believe Jesus told people to get baptized to show others that you are a follower of Him?

  4. Do you believe Jesus died and rose from the grave?

  5. Do you trust Jesus will wash away your sins?

  6. Do you want everyone to know you follow Jesus?

Please fill out our baptism form to let us know that you want to be baptized and our team will get back with you soon.

Questions having your child dedicated?

How old does my child need to be?

Child dedications at Discovery are open to children of all ages — from precious infants to growing teens. No matter what stage your family is in, this is a beautiful opportunity to publicly commit to raising your child to know and love Jesus.

Will it be during both services?

Yes! We’ll be celebrating child dedications during both the 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM services so your family and friends can join you at the time that works best.

What if my child is already baptized? Can they be dedicated?

At Discovery, we believe that baptism is a personal decision — a step someone takes after choosing to follow Jesus. In contrast, dedication is a parent’s way of presenting their child to the Lord, much like we see in 1 Samuel 1:25–28, where Hannah dedicates her son Samuel to God. Because of this, child dedications are for children who have not yet made the personal decision to be baptized.
