Joseph - When Dreams Meet Reality

The Story

Greg Lindsey

Life rarely unfolds the way we plan. Joseph's story reminds us that hard circumstances are never an indicator that God has abandoned us. From his father's favorite son to a slave in Egypt, from Potiphar's household to prison, Joseph's journey seemed to move further from his dreams with each passing year. Yet God was working behind the scenes the entire time.

In this message, we explore how what appears to be setbacks in our smaller story is often preparation in God's larger story. Even when we can't see it, God is working. Even when we don't feel it, He never stops. Join us as we discover how staying faithful through the unseen seasons leads to undeniable breakthrough—and how every moment, good or bad, can be preparation for all God created us to be.

Part 3 of our 31-week chronological journey through the Story of God.

  1. Where in your life right now does it feel like your story is moving away from your dreams rather than toward them? How might God be working behind the scenes in ways you can't yet see?

  2. Joseph's brothers intended to harm him, but God intended it for good. What past hardship or setback in your life can you now see—looking in the rearview mirror—was actually preparation for where you are today?

  3. The message reminds us that "even the very best people can only take us so far" and that we need God more than anyone else. Who are you leaning on most right now—people or God? What would it look like to deepen your daily dependence on Him this week?
